Selamat Memperingati Hari Museum Internasional!
Hari Museum Internasional diperingati setiap tahunnya pada tanggal 18 Mei untuk memperkenalkan sekaligus mengajak publik untuk mengetahui peran penting museum sebagai suatu sarana pendidikan dan pertukaran budaya.
Hari Museum Internasional pada awalnya belum ditetapkan secara resmi. Melansir situs resminya, International Council of Museums (ICOM) pertama-tama mengumpulkan berbagai komunitas museum internasional dalam pertemuan yang diadakan pada tahun 1951.
Pertemuan tersebut membahas tema mengenai Museums and Education atau Museum dan Pendidikan. Gagasan Hari Museum Internasional sendiri terinspirasi oleh kerangka aksesibilitas museum yang dikembangkan pada pertemuan ini. Kemudian pada tahun 1977, Hari Museum Internasional secara resmi ditetapkan. Penetapan Hari Museum Internasional ini bertujuan agar dapat lebih menyatukan aspirasi kreatif dan upaya museum untuk menarik perhatian publik.
Selain itu, Hari Museum Internasional juga bertujuan menyampaikan pesan bahwa Museum adalah sarana penting untuk pertukaran budaya, pengayaan budaya, dan pengembangan serta kerja sama dan perdamaian antar bangsa. Karena acara peringatannya semakin menarik dan berkembang, ICOM kemudian mengusulkan tema untuk pertama kalinya pada tahun 1992.
Tema yang diusung pada Hari Museum Internasional pada tahun 1992 itu adalah Museums and Environment atau Museum dan Lingkungan. Setiap tahunnya, ICOM mengusung tema yang berbeda-beda untuk perayaan Hari Museum Internasional.

The International Museum Day is celebrated every year on May 18 to introduce while inviting the public to find out the important role of the museum as a means of education and cultural exchange. The International Museum Day at first has not been officially established.
Launching its official website, the International Council of Museums (ICOM) first gathered various international museum communities at the meeting held in 1951. The meeting discussed the theme of Museums and Education or Museums and Education. The idea of the international museum itself was inspired by the accessibility framework of the museum developed at this meeting.
Then in 1977, the International Museum Day was officially established. The determination of the International Museum Day aims to further unite the creative aspirations and museum efforts to attract public attention. In addition, the International Museum's Day also aims to submit a message that the museum is an important means for cultural exchange, cultural enrichment, and development and intercourse and peace between nations.
Because the commemoration event was increasingly interesting and developing, the ICOM then proposed the theme for the first time in 1992. The theme carried on the International Museum Day in 1992 was Museums and Environment or Museums and the environment. Every year, ICOM carries different themes for the International Museum Day celebration.
